Compared to its predessecors, the iPod Nano 6th generation does not support video playback. This is because the hardware is not strong enough to be able to play videos.

Unlike the  5th gen that can record 640X480 at 30 frames/second, the iPod Nano 6th generations removed the video camera.

So, basically, this might be the cause why the 6th gen iPod Nano cannot play videos. But, there is a solution to that. try to convert the video into iPod video and drag into music. It worked. Try also to update your device. Apple might someday, give an update to the 6th generation iPod Nano, that will enable the device to play videos.

Here are the available updates at for this moment

With iPod software update version 1.1 for iPod Nano (6th generation), you will be able to:

  • Completely turn off the iPod, rather than just put the device to sleep.
  • Control music or radio playback using the Sleep/Wake button without having to look at the device.
