Hello! I was thinking of installing AD and creating a domain controller. I was just wondering whether creating a domain controller without DNS server is an acceptable idea or not. All suggestions are welcome.
Is Creating A Domain Controller Without DNS Server A Good Idea
Hey there! Well, technically there are no problems in installing Active directory or creating a domain controller without DNS servers. The point is, how intelligent the method is. As you will be aware, DNS is the phonebook of the internet. Hence, the DNS locates the various domain controllers for authentication and logon. Obviously, for the Active Directory to be synced with your DC and for its proper functioning, a DNS is absolutely necessary. Preferably, restrain from creating a domain controller without DNS servers.
