If you are using a laptop with Touchpad that is doing exactly the opposite of what you tell it to do, you know that a bad Touchpad can alone ruin the user experience of a computer. The Microsoft brought Precision drivers that have helped this somewhat, but a Precision Touchpad over an ELAN or Synaptics is not a cent guarantee of perfect user experience.
You should spend some time tracking the cursor around the screen to check for input lag trying both left and right clicks to make sure they’re properly registered. A common problem with Touchpad is buggy scrolling, which is frustrating. Then by using your browser of choice, on any page using the two-finger swipe gesture to scroll up and down the page. Note for any involuntary bouncing or loss of the scroll; this will mean you have a defective Touchpad.
