Hi Vivian Drakees,
As far as I know, Mac OS X supports winAmp player. But it does not support all functionalities of a winAmp that’s running on windows 7. It only has limited capabilities when it is installed in mac. It can play music files but not video files. That means .mpg and all other video files such as .mpeg, .avi, .mp4 can’t be played on a winAmp that is running on a mac.
There is a very good alternative however. Try downloading VLC player. It’s considered the best video player by users who have used it. Here’s the link:

Hope that helps!
Yes, MPEG is pretty much supported. If you are planning to install Winamp and wondering if the MPEG video format (*.mpg) is supported, yes it does. Winamp can play many popular audio formats like MP3, FLAC, AAC WAV, M4A, and OGG including video formats such as AVI, MKV, WMV, FLV, and MP4.
Common file extensions used by Winamp include *.aac, *.aiff, *.ape, *.asf, *.asx, *.avi, *.cda, *.flac, *.flv, *.lng, *.lrc, *.m3u, *.m3u8, *.m4a, *.m4b, *.m4p, *.m4v, *.midi, *.mp3, *.mp4, *.mpeg, *.mpg, *.ogg, *.ogv, *.pls, *.snd, *.sng, *.swf, *.wav, *.webm, *.wma, *.wmv, and *.wpl. Winamp is a legendary media player for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Android and one of the major ones.
It was developed by Dmitry Boldyrev and Justin Frankel by their company, Nullsoft, which they later sold to AOL, who then sold it to Radionomy in January 2014.
