Installation of Xandros was done by a wizard that asks questions about partitioning and the administrator (root) password. Is it possible to install and use the GNOME and Xfce desktop environments on Xandros?

Is it really possible for Xandros Linux?
Try to use this procedure that I once used to install it, though I will not confirm it will definitely work for you because I am not a Linux expert. 1) Install GDM as apt-get install gdm, 2) Install xfce as apt-get xfce4 then Install Gnome as apt-get install gnumetric gnome-office gnome, start by installing gnumetric then gnome-office then gnome. Type all of them from the first stage in console. If you get a message to start up with GDM server wait for a warning that the display is busy then it will automatically start on the next display accept.
Remember to log in as another user for security reasons. You might receive warning that there are other users but that's not to worry you because you will be able to shut down your computer successfully.
