ITunes error the app “Skype” was not installed on the iPod

Hi there,

I can’t install Skype on my iPod because of this error. I don’t know how can this be solved or if this Skype version is OK for my iPod. I want to install it because all my friends are using Skype and I want to be close to them. Please help me to fix this error. Why I have difficulties to install it ?

Since you are installing Skype on your iPod via iTunes, it will help you do the installation properly and more efficiently if you are using the latest version. Most of the common issues with updating of handsets and installing apps are related to old versions of iTunes. Before you continue on installing Skype, download the latest version from iTunes 11.1.5 Download.

Also, make sure your operating system is supported. iTunes 11.1.5 for Windows supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and up, Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. If you have x64 Microsoft Windows, download iTunes 11.1.5 for x64 Windows. It requires x64 Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Microsoft Windows XP is not supported.

Once iTunes is updated, you can download Skype from Skype for iPhone 4.17.2. This version requires iOS 5 and up and supports iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. If you still can’t install this, check your device’s operating system and update it to iOS 5 or higher.
