I added a Sound Blaster Z PCI to my PC last summer with great success. I got the best sound out of it while playing music and games. Now the sound will drop out for no reason and I then have to reboot my PC to get it back? Since I upgraded my driver this has been a problem. Can I reverse my driver to the last update or do I need to replace this card?
Keep Losing Sound With My Sound Blaster Z PCI
Hello Lloyd!
The update must be the main cause of this problem. Possibly update in the driver caused other software or parts of your system to clash. Before you make any changes back-up your files and system. The best way to resolve this is to un-install the software and driver of the sound card. You need to look for the specific location where the driver and software of the device currently installed. Write it in a paper so you can locate it later. Un-install the driver and software of the soundcard. After this, locate the folder for the sound card (the location in your directories that you wrote in a piece of paper i.e. C:/Program Files/SoundCard Folder). “Shift” + “Delete” the folder. If it will give you error, restart the computer and try to delete again the folder. Reinstall the driver first and software. After successful installation restart your computer. Try not to upgrade again the driver to main known good working computer.
