Sometimes I forget to bring my charger to my meetings so I always result to the use of my laptop’s USB port as a power source. But sadly I can keep these ports from running continuously when the computer sleep. Can find it in the Windows’ power profiles. Help will be appreciated.

Keeping USB drive from sleeping
if you are using windows 7 ( i assume that you are using windows 7 ) go to control panel and select power option
from the left hand side it will show some common option from it select Change when the computer sleeps option
then change setting plan will display. in the bottom of it you will see a blue sentence called "Change advanced power settings" just go to it and click on it
then select USB setting from the advanced power options and expand it. change USB selective suspend setting On Battery to Disabled and USB selective suspend setting for Plugged in as Disabled
you are done
thanks
