Hello,

I was trying to install IPCop on an AMD Duron 1.3 ghz, 192 MB SDRAM, 3 GB hard drive but I can’t pass the initial CDROM load to install the software. This error displays:

Inode cache hash table entries: 16384 (order: 5, 131072 bytes)

Kernel panic: cannot create inode slab cache

In idle task – not syncing

I looked for the kernel panic error but failed to get anything.

Help needed urgently.

Thanks a lot

You have a very good hardware specification to run IPCop. I just learned that this application can even run on a very slow, very old 386 processor which means you have a very good platform to run IPCop.

If you are installing this application through a CD-ROM, it’s either your CD-ROM drive has a serious physical problem or you have a faulty or broken installation disc. Check your CD-ROM drive first if it’s working properly. Load other CDs on the tray and try if you can browse its contents.

If you are sure that the CD-ROM drive is working, that leaves you to the conclusion that the disc is broken.

The only solution would be to download another copy of IPCop, either an .ISO disc image or obtain another installer CD. You can download the latest version of IPCop at http://ipcop.sourceforge.net. The latest stable version is 2.0.2.
