Knowing About Error 0x80004005: Unspecified Error In Windows 7
In Microsoft Windows, “Error 0x80004005” is translated as an “unspecified error.” You may get this when you want to access a shared folder, drive, virtual machine as well as when installing a Windows Update. If you encounter this when renaming a just created folder, try restarting your computer and rename the folder again. See if this works.
If this doesn’t work, the folder you created is probably a shared folder. To fix this, press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run dialog then type without quotes “regedit” then hit Enter. In the Registry Editor window, go to this location: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system]. After this, right-click “system” then point to “New” and then select “DWORD Value.” Name it without quotes “LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy” then hit Enter.
For 64-bit system, select “QWORD” and name it also as “LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy.” Next, double-click “LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy” then set “Value data” to without quotes “1” then click “OK.” Close the Registry Editor then restart the computer. After booting, try renaming the folder again then see if it works.
