Lag issues while playing music over the network

I'm using a server running WHS 2011. It has 2 raid arrays where my important files are stored. One of the arrays hold my music and I stream it from my main computer and a laptop. It lags every 30 seconds whenever I play music over the network. If I move the folder and stream off from another computer, the lags stop, so I believe there's a problem with the server but everything looks fine on it. Any ideas?

It sounds as if the server is in need of maintenance. I am sure you are aware of the problems that can result from “file rot.” I would try to resolve the problem through system cleaning or perhaps even a full wipe and reinstall. There may also be issues with your server setup. Check for flaws in the network as they pertain to the problematic machine. Use some light diagnostic tests. You could also optimize the performance of that server in many ways. Use alternate software and tune any scripts in use. Maybe the machine is in need of software or hardware upgrades.
