I have a Samsung Laptop with Windows 8 installed. I have been using it for 4 months but suddenly it can no longer recognize any USB device. I tried with a flash disk, external hard disk, phone and none is recognized. It simply doesn’t show anything. I tried to all USB ports and none works but the devices work well on another computer. Could this be a hardware or software issue? How can I resolve it?
Laptop doesn’t recognize any USB device
First of all, remove all the USB controllers in your computer and reinstall it back. To do this, follow the steps below:
1. Click Start and then Run. Type sysdm.cpl and OK.
2. Under the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
3. Go to Universal Serial Bus controllers and expand it.
4. Right-click on each device and click Uninstall.
5. Restart your computer and install the USB controllers.
6. Plug all your USB devices again and check if its now working.
You may also try to consider plugging your devices to another machine and see if it will work to know if the problem is really your USB ports or your device itself.
