My laptop has been behaving unusually. When I startup the laptop when the charger is connected, the icons which are usually in the desktop are not displayed. I have to remove the charger and restart my laptop for the icons to be seen. What could be the cause of this problem?

Laptop is not displaying desktop icons when booted when charger is connected.
When laptop is charging sometimes it does it's thing. Laptop just charging and icons will not be shown. In layman's term, laptop don't want to be disturbed when it's charging(lol).
Laptop's battery icon when charging usually gets the larger space in the system tray. It indicate that it's charging when the icon is moving from 1 bar to full, the same image displayed when charging cell phone.

You can also do the following
Â
* Go to Start, Control Panel, User Management
* Choose "Turn user account control on or off""
* Remote the check on "use UAC to help protect computer" then push OK button.
* Restart your computer
You can remove the check on Hide inactive icons when battery is charging.
Â
* Go to the Task Manager, right click and choose this option
* Click NOtification Area and uncheck the box on Hide inactive icons.
Â
This steps will let you display inactive icons because when laptop is charging, all icons are in used will be hidden by the settings. By removing the check, it will still display even when it's not used.

That is a bit unusual, but it could be caused by the power options that you have set to use for the computer. If you have set the computer to run on low power which is called the power saver mode, then the speed will be tremendously low, and therefore it may be the one causing the desktop icons to take longer before they load when the charger is connected. When you remove the charger, the computer automatically switched to the high power mode and therefore the speed at which the desktop icons are loaded is faster. You will need to check that.
-
On your computer, click on the power button in the task bar.
-
On the ‘More power options' option.
-
In the window that will open, change the power options accordingly.
-
Save the changes and exit.
