The latest version of PerLDAP
Hi,
PerLDAP, is built around OpenLDAP, which is a directory on the computer that runs client / server model. It contains information of any kind which is arranged hierarchically.
To understand the concept, it is often compared to Yellowpages, where the reader is looking for a particular phone number. It will first select the profession, then city, then the entry's name to find the final number. In practice it is used to store a large amount of users or services (sometimes hundreds of thousands) in a computer network.
It allows users to organize hierarchically by department, by location or by any other criterion. This is a free alternative to Microsoft Active Directory.
