Yes you can use separate TV tuner for LCD. There are many manufactured company in the world with its separate TV tuner for LCD. They have their particular brand. I know about few separate TV tuner is used for LCD. But among them the most perfect one is “AXION AXN-8701”. You can try it.

You just need to hook it up to a TV tuner or a Cable box. This is assuming your LCD monitor has either composite (RCA cable), component, S-Video, or HDMI inputs. You would simply buy a TV tuner, or a satellite tuner like a DirecTV tuner, and hook up its outputs to the TV's inputs. That's it. You would use your tuner to change the channels, etc. So basically, you need something like this: Samsung DBTH260F HDTV Terrestrial Tuner, Dreambox 500-c cable receiver and ITGate 220.

Remember when you decide to buy, look for something that will best fit you (Budget and Brand wise).
