This can be done simply. First step is to install thunderbird on a PC which is having a compatible version of the so called Outlook. Compact the .pst file using the required outlooks file data management commands. This helps in permanently getting rid of any messages which are deleted. This is not compressing or so called zipping a file. Import the messages now using tools mail import.
