You can solve this problem using these following steps. First thing to do is create a backup or recovery disk and make your boot order in your BIOS as CD-ROM. Next download a zip file called FixPacks.zip. Unpack this and place it in required position in C:. Now boot the burned recovery disk. Open command prompt and thenwrite using keyboard C:\Packs C:\ /E /IS anddel C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\*.*. You must back your system and run readliness tool. Download SP2 from Microsoft download center and your problem will be solved. Hope this helps.

The problem is regarding with the copying of files. If Microsoft Windows cannot copy files for installation, the most likely cause is with the storage media where the file is located. Basically, even if a file is corrupt, you can still copy it from one location to another. It’s just that you cannot open it because it is corrupt. But this is when copying files only.

This is different when file corruption happens on installing an application. When installing a program, Windows has to unpack files from archives before the actual installation process happens. When the archive is corrupt, Windows will not be able to read it and unpack files and that’s when this error is triggered. If you are installing a Windows Update from a copied source, the source file is probably damaged.

In this case, you should download the update again and install it. On the other hand, if you are installing or upgrading Microsoft Windows like from Microsoft Windows Vista to Microsoft Windows 7, for example, check that the setup DVD you are using is not damaged.
