Limit upload available on computer
You can limit your upload speeds on a computer. Maybe it's the easiest solution. You can do this with a software which is made to limit the upload speeds. Some of that software is netlimiter (https://www.netlimiter.com) and bandwidth controller (http://bandwidthcontroller.com/), but you can also find many other similar software products. Just Google it. These products are really intuitive and easy to use, you will see that in the first moment you enter them.
Also, some network routers can be adjusted in a way to limit the upload speed per port. So that is also one of the solutions. But every router has a different interface, so you have to see which options your router has.
Limit upload available on computer
I’m quite confused whether you want to limit your computer’s internet speed or manage the actual bandwidth or data usage of your machine. Anyway, I will just explain both. If you want to limit or control the present speed of your internet connection from your computer, you can do it manually from within the Group Policy. Actually, this is best done to boost the computer’s internet speed.
- Click Start then Run. Type without quotes “gpedit.msc” then hit Enter.
- Under Local Computer Policy, expand or go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Network, QOS Packet Scheduler, and then double-click Limit Reservable Bandwidth.
- Under Setting tab, select Enabled then in “Bandwidth limit (%)”, select how many percent you want to limit the speed by clicking on the up and down buttons next to it. Setting it to zero will actually remove all reservable bandwidth and will therefore boost your network speed.
- Click Apply or OK then close the rest of the windows. Restart your system if necessary.
On the other hand, if you want to manage your computer’s bandwidth usage, you can download Traffic Shaper XP and some other bandwidth controller products from Bandwidth Controller – Network Management Software | Download.
