I have 64 bit windows vista with SP1 installed. I have children that mess around on my computer. I have managed to lock up most of the things except the taskbar. How can I achieve this?

Thanks!

Hi there Huntress Chasee, I searched a solution that may help your problem.

Locking the taskbar I just an easy way, but it does not prevent you from others using your pc for it is easy also to unlock it.

1. Right click on taskbar and click lock the taskbar.

But for you to prevent your children messing around your computer, try to set password on your user administrator.

1. Click on Start>Control Panel>User accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts>Create Your Password.

2. Input your desired password, confirm it.

3. Make a hint, just in case you forget your password you can have a hint of it.

Hope this idea helps.

Hunter,

In today's society we all want to keep our children safe , especially when it comes to the cyber world.  To lock your taskbar, follow these steps:

1. Go to the taskbar and right click on an empty space

2.  Go now to Properties

3.  Put a check in the box next to "Lock the taskbar"

4.  Click ok

One more way to lock your taskbar is through your Registry.  To enter your Registry follow these steps:

1.  Click on your start menu

2.  In the search field enter "regedit"

3.  Go into the following file folders by double-clicking on the folders:  HKEY_CURRENT_USERS>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advanced

4.  On the right side of your screen, right click on "TaskbarSizeMove" and choose modify

5.  Enter a zero in the Value Data box

6.  Close regedit and restart your computer
