Some of the tasks performed by logon scripts:

1) Collect information about computer system.

2) Install default printer.

3) Map the network drives.

4) To update virus signatures.

5) To update software’s. WAYS TO ASSIGN LOGON SCRIPTS

1) PROFILE TAB

• Works for any Microsoft based OS.
• Specifically used when you have old customers.

2) By creating the group policies.

How to create a logon script?

• These scripts perform the actual task.
• Default location when they are created is NETLOGON share.
• Create it and give an appropriate name along with the right extension.
• Double-click on it to see if it is working properly.
• Copy the script.

• Paste it in the NETLOGON share.

As these are in the hands of the User, you need to assign them.

• Go to Administrative tools.
• Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
• Right-click on the user object and then click on Properties.

• Under the profile tab, see the Logon script box.
• Enter the name of the script.

• Finally click on OK.
