A system image contains a copy of Windows and copies of your programs, system settings, and files. It is stored in a separate location from the original programs, settings, and files and can be used to restore the contents of your computer if your hard disk or entire computer ever stops working. Here is how you can create the system image:

Click Start then Control Panel.

Select System and Maintenance and then click on Backup and Restore.

Click Create a system image on the left pane then follow the succeeding on-screen instructions. Enter your password when asked.
Remember that to be able to create a system image your hard drive must be using the NTFS file system. And also, if you wish to save the system image on a different container other than the hard drive like in a USB flash drive, it must also be formatted with NTFS.
