Hello Experts! Can somebody please help me on my problem? I can’t seem to map network drive of my Windows 2003 server with Windows 7. On my previous Windows XP, it allows sharing but on my Windows 7, the authentication failed. How can I correct this?

Hello Isabella00,

You should turn on your file sharing on windows 7 so that you will be able to access the file in windows 7.

Second you should login with your domain account and make sure your account is not lock out, let your new pc be a member of the domain.

And you should be in administrator account when mapping the drive.

Hi Isabella00

I have found a solution for you and I am sure it’ll work for

You have to follow these steps

  1. Go to start menu and click on run
  2. Now you have to type “secpol.msc”
  3. Press Enter
  4. Now go to local policies then go to security options and chose network security: “LAN manager authentication level” item.
  5. Now you have to set it to “send LM and NTLM use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”
  6. Reboot your system and remap

You’ll see everything will go in good direction

I hope you’ll find out your solution easily from this post. Good Luck!
