Some component of ActiveShield are either missing or might not have been installed properly. Please reinstall ActiveShield.
If you have started your computer in safe mode, please restart your computer in normal mode to enable McAfee VirusScan.

Hi there, I have read your query about the error you are getting whenever you try to run McAfee VirusScan.
I have encountered the same problem before and it was solved by uninstalling the previous version of McAfee that was installed in your PC. It can be done by going to the Control Panel; Add/Remove Programs.
You can also try running the MPCR tool to remove the McAfee files. After doing this, you can now install the different or updated version of McAfee found on their website. Restart PC for changes to take place.

It seems like the McAfee antivirus may have had a problem during installation and therefore it did not install properly. What you will therefore need to do resolve the issue you are getting is the following:

You will need to uninstall the McAfee application from your computer. Go to the Control panel and remove it under Add/Remove Programs.

After that retry installing it, and the run it and see if it will work well.

If it still brings the issue, the problem is most probably with the setup.

You will therefore need to redownload a setup for McAfee, and then after that install it.
