I would feel more comfortable if I could backup all of my Gmail data on my computer. I know that all the methods used by Google are safe, and they probably use secure software to backup everything, but I would want a copy of these files just to be sure. I really don't know how exactly to do that, and on the internet solutions were of no use to me, and that's why I am asking you guys for some help. Do you know how to backup your Gmail on local drive so that I feel more safe about them? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Method to backup your Gmail on local drive partition
Hello Steve ,

Synchronizing your mails to your desired destination is the most important thing that you should consider doing as it reduces chances of loss of data. Here are some few steps that will help you solve that problem.
First log in into your Gmail account.
After accessing your account , at the top of your Gmail page there is a tool bar click on  settings.
when you have clicked settings another tool bar will appear having other items click on forwarding and POP/IMAP. In this page you will be asked a question and expected to point out an answer choose enable POP for all mail
At the second question click on the list box and take the action  (delete Gmail's copy) so that it can take over after the mails are accessed with POP.This other step will require you to download aversion of thunderbird portable(2.0.0.19 rev2) to a location of your choice.
After installing the software run thunderbird portable.the new account setup will display as select Gmail click next.
Insert your name and log-in name then click next.
Click finish to complete that process.
Enter your Gmail password and hit next and always remember your password
Some emails will be downloading open the thunderbird and click tools at the top of the page, click accounting settings ,in the left window select server settings.you need to make changes in the check value for latest messages on the server from 10-1 minutes, click ok.
Do not close thunderbird leave it open and running until all your emails have been removed from Gmails server when it finishes downloading  then close the thunderbird.Hope this information will help you.
