Xbox Music is a music player built-in to the Xbox game console. The app is designed for streaming and downloading which lets you enjoy unlimited music on your Xbox gaming console. When it was launched, it is available in two versions: ad-supported free version and Xbox Music Pass. The free ad-supported version allows unlimited streaming for the first six months.
Beyond that, you will be limited to a certain number of streaming hours. The Xbox Music Pass is the paid version of Xbox Music. It costs around 8.99 pounds. This removes all the advertisements and you can enjoy as much music as you want. Xbox Music was planned to launch on October 26, 2012 together with Microsoft Windows 8.
Unfortunately, Microsoft closed the free Xbox Music streaming service on December 1, 2014. But they will still continue offering music streaming through the Xbox Music service but users have to purchase an Xbox Music Pass subscription at $9.99 a month. Xbox Music will come pre-installed on all devices running on Windows 8. Xbox Music is now known as Groove Music together with Zune Music.
