Microsoft Office Outlook with Avast 4 Problem
Hi!
I have also experienced this problem before, but I was able to fix it somehow. The cause of this problem is actually the file named "extend.dat". This file is a cache that Outlook builds from the registry information, so that it doesn't have to check and read all of the settings from the registry every time it starts. Deleting this file will cause Outlook to remake or recreate it, taking into account the changes Avast! Setup made to the appropriate reg: keys.
Solution:
Before you proceed to the solution you might want to Restart you computer just to make sure that no unuseful Programs running. etc.
Search your entire System drive for a file named "extend.dat" and rename it or just simply delete it. You have to find all instances of "extend.dat" of all users who uses OS/Outlook and delete it also. this file is actually inside a hidden folder, so if you are using windows search function, you need to enable searching of hidden/system files.
Then after that you have to open Windows Registry, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftExchangeClientExtensions
This is where you have to delete registry value named "avast! 4" which contains path to the file "ashOutXt.dll" in value data.
(by the way, you can open windows registry by simply doing this -go to start menu, – Open RUN, – type regedit).
That's all. I hope that helps.

Hi John
Deleting the extend.dat file can solve this because Avast 5 doesn't include anti spam filter module that's why your encountering this error.
