Is Microsoft Security Essentials Antivirus really powerful?
I have been using it for some time but cannot notice any activity in it. Does it really detect viruses and protect my pc from Malwares, specifically spywares?
Please help! I am really worried!

Well, since it is a Microsoft product, it seems reliable. But there is this site that does independent tests for antivirus software's.
According to its latest test with Retrospective/Proactive test, Microsoft Security Essentials scored Advanced. This test ensures which antivirus software's are fast and advance in detecting new viruses and Malwares.
The On-demand Comparative test, which tests the detection rate, also scored Advanced. When it comes to Performance test, it scored Advanced (+).
AV-Comparatives showed the best antivirus software, so it's up to you now which would you like use.
Check it out so you would no longer worry.

Hey Philmartink 🙂
Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is one of the "4" most popular free antivirus software in the world for 2011.
Here's the list:
-
AVG Anti-Virus
-
Microsoft Security Essentials
-
Avast Anti-Virus
-
Avira Anti-Virus
You're wondering why there's no logged activity. It is because MSE runs quietly in the background. It doesn't have any annoying features that prompt you every now and then. It’s a substitution for Windows Live Care and Windows Defender rolled into one Anti-Virus Program.
Microsoft Security Essentials scans and filters downloaded files and mail attachments as well. Even provides more security by updating its virus definition database thrice a day.

Well Anne, comparing MSE and Kaspersky, which would you consider stronger?
I have not seen any feature to deal with internet security, like online security.
