Microsoft Office uses Microsoft Visual Basic for applications macro which start a hidden session for Microsoft Word and add text. When you try to work in Microsoft Word the hidden application is running and converting your every single bit to machine.

When you work subsequently and your system down the speed, then you can't close the Word and the error message that you have mentioned will appear. You should have to wait for the session that is running hidden, to close and then close the Word.

To avoid this delay, simply install the Equation Editor. It has all the desirable Math equations and symbols.

It will work with you well. Ignore the Math program because it will slow your work down.

The procedure is as follows:

To Install Equation Editor:

  1. Go to the File menu > Exit.

  2. Go to the Start menu > Control Panels > Add or Remove Programs.

  3. Click on Microsoft Office XP Professional to select it.

  4. Click on the Change button.

  5. Next in the Office XP Setup window, select Add or Remove Features then click Next.

  6. Scroll down until you see Office Tools and click on the plus sign next to it to enlarge it.

  7. Click on the little drive icon next to Equation Editor and then Run All from My computer. Click the Update button and let it install.
