In the start of the year 2016, there were rumors about a computer that can read minds ad can predict what we are going to say or do next. Is it real? How does this computer work?
Yes, it is very real. This computer can actually decode what a human brain is thinking. This requires focusing on the Broca Area of the brain which mainly consists of the motor neurons. In order to achieve this, the computer measures the brain signals and analyses these signals to determine what the brain is thinking. However, only words can be identified, for now. This will soon be modified to identify complete sentences, etc.
There is a new research about a new computer program that can read or decode people’s thoughts almost in real time. Researcher can foretell what people are seeing according to the electrical signals coming from electrodes implanted in their brain. This decoding occurs in milliseconds of someone first seeing the image.
According to Rajesh Rao, a neuroscientist at the University of Washington in Seattle, the new results could one day have applications for helping people express their thoughts like those who cannot speak or the ones who have difficulty communicating. Scientists have made massive advances in decoding human thoughts in recent years.
In a study back in 2011, researchers interpreted brain waves into the movie clips people were watching during the time. In 2014, scientists send out thoughts to each other by means of a brain-to-brain link. Also, other studies have shown that computers are capable of seeing what people are dreaming about using only their brain activity.
