Monitor Gets Bright Then Fades Slowly Dark?

I have not used this desktop in years and decided to pull it out of storage. When I first turn on the monitor screen it is normal and bright. But after a few minutes the screen slowly starts fading until it is completely black? Would this be a out of date driver issue or a bad monitor?

Hello Donald!

It is very nice to see our old computer that we used in our projects or previous jobs. If it is acting weird like your monitor turning into darker colors please check from inside to outside.

I am sure that you are familiar in dismantling video card properly and clean it with a safe cleaning-agent for silicon devices. Uninstall the video card and re-install the driver. Try to download updated software for your video card. Check also the connection. Analog connections can have corrosion. Try to unseat and re-seat the connector and check again. If this will not work, use a cleaning-agent to cleanse you Analog or DVI connector. If still you will the same issue, bring the monitor to repair shop and ask them to check especially if it's CRT.
