Hi! I have always heard that MS Excel has been used in a wide range of applications over the years but recently I heard something very surprising. Apparently, a lot of people have used it before as an alternative to database management systems. I mean is it possible to actually use MS Excel to store your important data in the form of files because obviously MS Excel has different functionalities and it seems very inappropriate to use it for storing data in form of files

Hello,

We can export the MS Access database files into MS Excel spreadsheet to store the files. In this way we are storing .mdb files into .xls or .xlsx files. Ms Access having in-built utility called as “Export Wizard” using this we can export database objects like queries, tables, forms etc. When data are exported, Access forms a copy and then stores the created copy in the Excel file.
See the option of Export Wizard as:

MS excel can store only data, but not in form of files. In other words, MS excel cannot store files.

It has multiple workarounds that are

1. Macro Programming: By using this, we can automate different tasks in MS excel by writing a VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code in Visual Basic Editor.

2. Organizing Data: Excel is widely used for creating line graphs, Bar graphs and charts/pie charts that helps in creating  reports also.

3. For exporting and importing data: Excel can interact with MS Access, MS word and external data sources to send and receive data.
