MS Office using a customer MST file

I am trying to install MS Office using a customer MST file which is

"MaintWiz.exe /c "\SMSSERVERe$PackagesOffice 2003Office 2003 UpgradeFullInstall.CMW" /qb-"

This command works fine with CMD but if I run it through SMS, an error shows stating the reason why it will not run. The message is somehow saying that System Management Server (SMS) can determine the status for every program it executes.

If SMS could not find the status of installation for the program with the Management Information Format (MIF) files, an exit code is then used to determine the status. But then, the exit code -2147467259 does not work as well. How will I fix such error?

Well, in that case you just need to go for the way that is getting the installation run successfully, and that is by using the command prompt as you have indicated above. There is no need to go through a lot of trouble trying to use another difficult way when you can successfully use some other way to install the application.

The reason as to why the installation via the SMS is not working properly may be because you are not using the right procedure or there are some crucial steps that you are not following properly, and therefore my suggestion is that you check the user manual that will guide you through the installation of the application.

Hello, please find below for your reference.

  1. Firstly you have to indicate the MSI file and MST file, then go to either page wizard to change the settings. Please be reminded that the changes are not saved in wizard, you have to save the changes and click Finish.
  2. The settings of Setup command line and Setup setting file (Setup.ini) shall overwrite all customized settings in the above modification.
  3. Also, please be reminded that Custom Installation Wizard in Office 2003 shall not be used because MSI files or MST files are created for Office older version.

Carl
