MSQL Database Restore Without Log File

I have MSQL installed on Windows Server 2008. The MSQL database hosts the database of the main application my that my company uses for its day to day operation.

The server has two partitons: C and D. The MSQL installation was done on the D partition while all other Operating System files were installed on the C partition. By mistake, the D partition was reformatted removing the MSQL installation directory, the MSQL log file, and the database data folder.

I had a back-up of the database data folder. I reinstalled MSQL on the server but i cannot restore my database. It keeps asking for the log file. I do not have a back-up of the log fie. Is there anyway i can restore the data without a log file or is there any way for me to retrieve the log file from the partition? This is urgent since that none of my employees are currently able to work properly.

Dear Peggy Williams,

1. First, you can restore your database backup without log files.

Run Enterprise Manager,  Right click on Databases, All Tasks, Restore Database. In 'general' tab select 'from device' then press 'select devices' then press 'Add' button. give a path where you kept backup of database then press 'OK' and again press 'OK'. go to 'Options' tab. There you see the paths of old log files. Here you should right new path like "C:filename.mdf" and in second row right 'C:filename.ldf' and press OK. Its will work and hope your problem will be resolved. Just write the new path of your log files instead of old one.

2. second if you want to recover your lost file then you should use EASEUS software for undelete a log files.

Best wishes,
