I was working on my HP Pavilion n011TU Laptop and suddenly it started sowing a Vertical Line on the screen. The line's position is a little bit right from the Center. The Line is changing colors itself. I am curious to know what could be the possible reason behind it and how this can be resolved?
My HP Pavilion n011TU Laptop shows Vertical Line on Screen
Hi Corin Ronie,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing. It could be that the video card is going or there could be overheating.
Video Card Problem
If this is the case you need to carry your laptop to a certified technician to replace the video card. If the laptop is still under warranty, return to the store of purchase with receipt to get it replaced. Also, sometimes the video card cannot be replaced and a new motherboard has to be installed in your PC. So, it all depends on your unique situation and the advise from your technician.
Overheating
You can check the temperatures using GPU-Z.
1. Download it from your browser.
2. Install the software.
3. Open it after installation and view temperatures. It will show you which temperatures are too high.
If overheating is the culprit, then bring it to a technician to clean it out. Most of the times overheating is caused by the build up of debris.
I hope this helped.
