I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. When I clicked on any link, new links will open in the background. But when I am using my iPhone 4S, the links won’t open in the background but rather as a new page. It doesn’t have any options to open links in the background. What should I do? From which setting should I go to set this option? Please help me.
Thanks a lot!
My iPhone 4S opens link on a new page
Hello Dixie,
The release of iOS 5 gives the user an option in settings that will allow you to open links in the background. If you want to enable this setting follow this instructions:
1. Go to Settings> Safari>Open Links.
2. Under Open Links, you have to select the "in Background" Safari will automatically show "Open in Background Option" once you try to tap and hold a link on a specific website.
If in the future you want to change this setting and wants to open a link to a new page, just select the "In New Page" .

The option or feature to open links in the background is available in iOS using Mobile Safari but this feature has to be turned on first. To open a link in a new tab on your iPhone, in Safari, tap and hold a link then select the appropriate button. The default setting will display “Open in new tab” which will bring you directly to that tab.
Though “Open in new tab” is the default setting, you can change it to “Open in background”. To change it, go to “Settings” then scroll down to the “Safari” section. Next, tap “Open Links” then select “In Background”. And that’s it. Now, every time you open a link on your iPhone, the new page will always open in the background.
To switch back to open links on a new tab, just repeat the same steps and select “In New Tab”.
