My LinkedIn was hacked, what do I do?

I found out my LinkedIn was hacked and all sorts of messages went out to my contacts. Any idea what, if anything, I need to do other than changing my password? I am really horrified that professional contacts received these types of messages from me, but I know there isn't much I can do. Any thoughts on what I can do if anything? Thanks.

My LinkedIn was hacked, what do I do?

It is advisable to take an immediate action against this issue.

• As the primary step, you can report about the compromised account and take additional steps in order to further prevent this unauthorized access.
• In the meantime, you can increase the security level of your account by setting security questions and resetting a more strong password that is difficult to be guessed and is not used in any other account of yours.
• Also you can do damage control.
• Further, remove suspicious applications.

​However, it is possible to recover your account back to normal even though the password and other information has been changed by the hacker.
