My MS word keep crashing

My MS word crashed after I loaded a file that I downloaded from Yahoo mail. At first it was loading the page up. But then it got stuck in the loading screen. I tried to wait for it at first but then it wouldn't continue. I also tried to system restore but when I load other word files it gives me this error "there was an unexpected error in the property page". 

Is there a way to save my files or do I have to reformat?

Hello, Mr Jerry Madison,

1. It would be much better that you reformat your file.
2. Get the help from Microsoft Office Word help. Go to the Microsoft Office Word menu < Click help < Click detect and repair.
3. This will repair your Microsoft Office Word and this will abort all the customized settings that your were made before of your word document. While making repair you can restore your old documents too.
4. If still i would not work then uninstall your old Microsoft Office version and re-install the newer version.

My MS word keep crashing

You can take some simple actions below to resolve the problem.

1. If the file is *.doc and *.docx file, try to open it through wordpad thus you can know whether the file has damaged or not.
2. If it opens you can try out Microsoft notebook to open the file and you can save it there for further cases.
3. If the above do not work and you want to open the file only with MS word then you can view the link below.
