Hi,

Outlook is shutting down and I have closed all my applications and rebooted the machine but the problem shows up again. In addition, the same happens when doing the import file. It is working properly when I work with single user in Outlook but with multiple profiles, it creates problems. Is there anyone with an idea what I am having this problem?

Hi,

This issue is duly reported to Microsoft, and a proper solution is already provided.

First the reason of outlook hanging due to multiple profiles is that whenever identities are switched, outlook automatically creates a DWORD registry value, under the subkey of “identities”, and the name of this subkey is “changing” and value is 0.

When the identity switch is again made, this DWORD registry sometimes is NOT removed, resulting in the issue reported by you.

To tackle this, you have to work on the registry, BUT before going any further, please do not any improper editing of registry may create serious problems so it is strongly suggested that you first backup the registry first. Please go to the URL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/322756/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows to understand as to how to back up your registry.

Now to the resolution.

Go to start – run and type without quotations “regedit”, press enter

Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERIdentities

On the left side, click the “identities”

You will see the “changing” value on the right pane

Right click on “changing” and delete the value

Close the registry editor

Start the outlook

It should stat normally, with normal identities switch

Email client such as Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express shuts down by itself is caused by misconfigured settings and or corrupted application.

Try to do a system restore, back to it's original time and date. This should refresh Microsoft Outlook and remove any possibility of software failure and corrupted application.

Go to Start then StartSearch
Type system restore and prss enter
Click on system REstore in the list of programs
Type the administrator password
Choose a different restore point and then next
Follow the steps and Finish

You can also repair the Operating System and configure to it's earlier state and time. diagnose and repair the application's Microsoft Outlook by using the software Office Diagnostic in Microsoft website.

Go to Help menu
Click Diagnostics
Then Continue
And Start Diagnostics
