My laptop runs with Windows Vista operating system. I have executed the system recovery with the installation CD of Windows Vista by selecting recovery command prompt. In the command prompt I have entered SFC / SCANNOW, but it is not recognizing. Please tell me what is happening. I will thankful for all the help.
MY WINDOWS VISTA DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY SCANNOW
For those who don’t know, sfc/scannow functions as an automatic way of Windows to look for corrupted or damaged system files and get them to work by updating them to their proper states. If your Windows Vista is telling you that it is not being recognized, go do the following:
1. If you have the Windows Vista installer disk boot from it, choose the option to repair your computer and make sure you enter the Recovery Environment
2. Run the command prompt
3. Type bcdedit | find “osdevice” ( include the quotes ) , press enter
4. Once Windows return the OS partition, at the prompt, type sfc/scannow /offbootdir=c: /offwindir=c:windows
5. sfc will now start
If sfc is still not working, you need to get “Update Readiness”, a tool designed to fix your winsxs folder. That’s the folder not working properly if sfc doesn’t work. Download the tool ( make sure it’s the latest ) and try to repeat the above steps.
Cheers!
