The full name is domain name system (DNS) which is a database system that translates a computer's full qualified domain name in IP address. Domain names are easier to remember than IP addresses, IP addresses are numeric like this (123.452.545.4752) which is much harder to remember than it’s domain name address. DNS uses both Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP).
