If Lotus Notes client is getting error, the Name Server Daemon (NSD)-KILL could help the program to restart.

Is it possible to use killnotes.exe to replace the "nsd -KILL"?

What are the variations of the two?

Which among this are advisable to use in terms of Lotus Notes version 8.5.x (up to 8.5.2 FP2)?

In case you choose to use the nsddaemon, then you will need to know that it implements an in-memory file system.

The file structures that it uses represent the state for each file that is used, and the extended attributes will be supported on each name service file.

The attributes on the file will be dependent on the library which was used to look them up, but the important elements that it will always include are the domain, the table, the key, the timeout, the source, the version, and finally the server.

These attributes will be got from parent directories.
