Hi,
In a few months I will present my Electronics Project. I am interfacing a module from a laptop.
I will control that module on my laptop.
But I have a problem, I have to use a rs232 port to make it happen.
My laptop doesn't have that port, at first I thought that every laptop has one.
I am wrong. Can I use the USB as an alternative port? will that work?
Need help for an alternative RS232 port
Actually Windows computers use USB ports instead of the older model DB9 serial ports. However, most astronomical devices require the standard RS232 serial interface, as you also need for your electronic project..
So million dollar question is how do you connect a serial astronomical device? (such as a telescope or filter wheel or focus etc) to a computer/laptop with no RS232 serial port?
The answer is so simple, just purchase a USB to Serial adapter. You can check it online too. There are many different manufacturers of these USB to Serial adapter. You can check it online too.
There are many different manufacturers of these adaptors, and not all work the same.
Good Luck for your project!
