You may be experiencing this kind of error due to:
1. The update is set to a different path or directory.
2. The previously installed WinRAR might have been moved to a different path or directory.
Make sure that the path, directory or location where your WinRAR is installed would be the same with the path, directory or location that your update will be sent to.
Before doing the update, check first the location of the WinRAR folder. Usually, the path should be like this, C:Program FilesWinRAR and it depends whether you’ve installed WinRAR on your C: directory and saved it under Program Files or you might have installed it on a different directory.
You can also download and install WinRAR 4.10, please watch the video below:

This can happen when you install the application to a USB flash drive or to an external hard drive. When installing WinRAR, make sure you install it on your local hard drive and not on a network drive or an external drive like USB flash drive or external hard drive.
If you install it on an external drive, you need to always insert that drive on your USB port whenever you want to use WinRAR because the installation files are in there. If you don’t want this to happen, when installing WinRAR just accept the default installation path and don’t select a different folder to avoid problems.
