Hi Laurel,

The new Linux Mint13 is based from Ubuntu 12.04 and is called Maya. Please take note that Maya is not yet finished but is now close to final release. If you want to try it, you can check their near final-release candidate build that is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit computer systems here https://www.linuxmint.com/release.php?id=18 . The Linux Mint download is free of charge.

There are two builds of Maya, Mate and Cinnamon. Mate is more  stable and is designed for mainstream computer systems while Cinnamon is for users which have high-end computer systems. In addition, Cinnamon offers slick user-interface compared to Mate. Download the build that suits your preference.
