Knoppix Linux is older Linux Distribution which still exists in the market. The installation procedure of this Knoppix is quite difficult but still we can do it. This knoppix Linux is a GUI/command line based Linux which supports almost all the Sound and Graphic Cards. This Linux can be used as alive CD as well as daily usage as your OS. This can also be used as a educational CD, rescue system. There is lot of advantages of using this for commercial software demos which is a good part of knoppix. There are lot many features in it you can download and run in any of the VMware tools and enjoy the features present in it.
Knoppix or also known in big letters as KNOPPIX is basically designed to be used as a live CD or in simple words, as a bootable CD. It is an operating system built on Debian intended to be run or operated directly from a CD, DVD, or the thing you called “Live CD” as well as in a USB flash drive or the “Live USB”.
This is the first of its kind for an operating system. If you want to run a program, you need to load it in your CD/DVD drive or in the USB flash drive and it is then decompressed into a RAM drive. The process of decompression is transparent and instantaneous.
But even if it is designed as a Live CD, you can also install it on your hard drive like other normal operating system. Those computers that support booting from a USB device will be able to load it from a Live USB flash drive including memory card. There are two versions of Knoppix: the usual Compact Disc which is around 700 MB and the DVD “Maxi” edition which is 4.7 GB.
This is the typical Knoppix startup screen you see when booting the computer with Knoppix. See image.
