The first step to take is to check the connections properly, whether the devices are properly plugged in and are powered on.
If everything is in order and you still do not have audio then you may be facing a driver issue.
If your computer doesn’t have a sound like when playing music or watching a movie using any media player, you should check if your sound card is already installed. Before purchasing a laptop or a desktop PC, you should check that all devices are installed and working so you will not have a problem using it when you get home.
To check if your sound card is installed, right-click on My Computer then select Properties. Select Hardware tab then click Device Manager. In Device Manager, check if you have a yellow question mark on any devices specifically on the “Sound, video and game controllers” section because this is where your sound card appears. If this section has a yellow question mark, it means the hardware or the sound card is not recognized.
A device may not be recognized if it hasn’t been installed, it is not properly installed, or it is not compatible with your system. If you have this symbol on your sound card section, try reinstalling your sound card. Refer to your laptop’s manual to learn what kind of sound card is installed. If you are using C-Media sound card, go to C-Media Download Center.
Search the page for your sound card model then download and install. If you have a Realtek sound card, go to Realtek Downloads. If you have a different sound card, please refer to your computer’s manual then visit the sound card’s manufacturer’s website to download the latest driver.
