ERROR_PATCH_NO_SEQUENCE 1648 No valid sequence could be found for the set of patches. Available beginning with Windows Installer version 3.0.

I have downloaded 10.0.1 AdbeRdrUpd1001_Tier1.msp patch via Firefox browser w/ virus protection, now I get this “Update failed, (null), error: 1648”. Reader 10.0 seems to work fine, but I don’t want to deal with potential security issues.

How do I fix this?

Hello King,

In your situation, you will need to try the following;

• First try uninstalling Adobe Reader.
• After that download and then install Adobe Reader 11

Good Day. Error Patch Sequence 1648 can be caused by virus, spyware, malware, adware or corrupted applications.
Now going back to your concern, the file you downloaded might be the file that "other" uploaded as bug. The file says that it is version 10.0.1 that has been checked by extracting the .msi file and run with software Orca. For you to have the "up to date" and the original patch from adobe, try downloading it on the official website of adobe. Follow the link.
