I upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2012.
After the installation, I run the program but the Norton AutoFix tool pops up with Error 8504, 104.
I tried to remove and reinstall again but I am not getting any successful solution.
When clicking on Close button, it will close Norton but when trying to restart again, AutoFix tool will start again.
How can I fix it?

Norton Autofix Error 8504, 104
Hi friend,
There are many solutions for this problem. Most easy solution is to click on “Open support website” tab. This will take through its homepage. There you will find a tab for help or FAQ. There you will find another free update option.
Other option is to check your activation security key. If you don’t have any security key then buy one from Norton. This error means your security registration has not being done properly.
Run your computer and log in as administrator. Then reset windows firewall to allow all action about Norton internet security. You can turn off firewall if necessary. If you used other internet security before then make sure that all previous files are deleted properly.

Hello Jermaine,
To resolve the issue that you are getting, you will need to get rid of the temporary files on your computer and then after that you will need to run a checkdisk scan to see if it will be able to tell you what the error is:
To run Checkdisk do the following:
-
On your computer, go to start, and then type cmd.
-
After that you will need to right click on cmd, and then choose "Run as Administrator"
-
After that you will need to type chkdsk /r /f and then hit enter
-
Next you will type y, and then restart the Computer and let the check disk run.
-
Once you have done that, you can then check the Norton internet Security.
Regards,
Carl

If you always see that screen even after reinstalling your Norton product, there is probably a problem with your system that’s why Norton Internet Security can’t start the service. Use the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your present version of NIS instead of doing the usual uninstall on the product. To download the Norton Removal Tool, you may visit Norton™ by Symantec | Support | Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to remove your Norton 2006 product or later version.
Read the instructions on the page carefully before using it on your computer to remove your NIS. But don’t forget that when using this tool, this will remove all Norton products presently installed on your computer. When NIS is already uninstalled, check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. For a much thorough diagnostics test on your machine, use disk utility applications like PC Tools Performance Toolkit, or Norton SystemWorks. Download again Norton Internet Security by visiting Norton™ by Symantec | Downloads | Norton™ Internet Security. This is the trial version and has a 30-day trial period.

Your issue is addressed by the Norton site found here: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v62545568_EndUserProfile_en_us
Once you download the tool listed on the page, and remove Norton, you will prompted to reboot your computer. It is possible that for whatever reason, the installation or a file that is part of the software has become corrupt, and reinstalling the software will fix the issue.
As always, before you make any changes to your system, back up all pertinent data, and set a restore point.
I hope this helps.
