Oracle – unexpected error occurred while installing the package

Hi experts,

 

I have decided to give Windows 8 a few more days of my life (before deciding if I am going back to Windows 7). So I am re-installing many of the programs that I used every day on my Windows 7 setup. Some of them are giving me this – "Error code 2503". Any idea would be really appreciated.

Oracle – unexpected error occurred while installing the package

A permission problem is likely to be behind this.

Open the Folder Options from your Control Panel. Open the View tab and check Show hidden files and folders. Move to c:/windows. Right-click on the Installer folder and choose Properties. Open the Security tab and make sure that the group named Everyone has Read & Execute, List folder contents and Read set to Allow. The System group and Admin group should have everything on Allow except Special permissions.
