Hi,

I have installed Call of Duty 2 on my computer running Windows OS. But on launching the program, I get an error “out of memory”. I have tried to free some hard disk space and no other programs are running besides it. What can I do now?

Error message:

Out of memory error: you are probably low on hard disk space.

Hello!

First of all try to fix your hunkmegs. Set it to 460, or 520 and try again. COD2 seems to have a problem recognizing the ram capacity of your PC, since 512 is the max, cod2 will think your PC is 1024 even though you have more RAM. Hunkmegs set the amount of memory located to the game. This can´t be more than half of the memory of your pc.

If this doesn´t fix the problem, try turning xfire off. And if the problem persists, try increasing the virtual memory. Here is a link were you can find detailed instructions for this.

You are receiving “Out of memory” error which means there is not enough memory left on the computer to run “Call of Duty 2”. In this case, you need to check the system requirements to verify that your computer meets the requirements. The game “Call of Duty 2” supports Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

It requires 1.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD Athlon XP 1700+ or faster processor, 256 MB RAM, Microsoft DirectX 9.0c-compatible video card with 64 MB video RAM, sound card, and 4 GB free space. If your computer is installed with or has 256 MB RAM, it will run but you will encounter performance issues. Try increasing your computer’s virtual memory.

Go to Ram memory failure critical error to learn how to increase your computer’s virtual memory. Next thing to check is your video card’s memory. You should meet the required 64 MB video RAM. Press the Windows key + R to bring up the “Run” dialog then type without quotes “dxdiag” and hit Enter to open the Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

In “DirectX Diagnostic Tool” window, go to “Display” tab. In “Device” section, see the amount of memory indicated in “Approx. Total Memory”. You should see the amount in MB. If the amount is lower than 64 MB, you need to upgrade your video card. For more information, go to Call of Duty 2 on Steam.
